Want to be more at home in the outdoors??? This basic school is for you! Water, Shelter, Fire, Signaling, Food, Navigation, Emergencies, First Aid…  it is all here in this unforgettable program.

BASIC OUTDOOR SKILLS (OVERNIGHT) (BOS/O)

Enjoy the outdoors? Want to develop greater confidence and comfort in wilderness settings? Two days -one night on the Appalachian Trail, all food and needed gear is provided. This course was designed to develop specific skills to enhance your enjoyment of the outdoors.

INTRODUCTION TO OUTDOOR SURVIVAL (IOS)

This course was designed and developed by us at the request the Discovery Channel.

Focusing on the basic points of four-season survival, the course begins with the construction of a personal survival kit and the importance of situational awareness and progresses through the skill sets of basic navigation, water acquisition, signaling, primitive fire building methods and shelter construction. THIS IS A FIELD COURSE. Students should dress and prepare for outdoor, mountainside conditions.

OUTDOOR SURVIVAL (OVERNIGHT) (OS/O)

Two days of learning in the woods with an overnight in between.. Application of all the lessons acquired in the Introduction class. THIS IS A FIELD COURSE. Students should dress and prepare for outdoor, mountainside conditions.

OUTDOOR SURVIVAL (ADVANCED) (OS/A)

Survival training for the person who wants to test and KNOW their capabilities. This is a GREAT course for hunters, scouts, outdoors professionals. Beginning on an afternoon with the construction of a basic survival kit, we then move to a trackless night time environment where we begin two more days and nights of applied survival skills.(water acquisition, signaling, fire building, shelter construction, navigation and medical ) THIS IS A FIELD COURSE. Students should dress and prepare for outdoor, mountainside conditions.

MAP AND COMPASS / LAND NAVIGATION (OTHERWISE KNOWN AS “WHERE THE HECK AM I AND WHERE AM I GOING??”) (LANDNAV)

Ever wonder where you are and how to get to where you want to go? If you have a compass and a map, we’ll teach you, it’s a snap! One day program, first half day in the outdoor classroom, second half day is spent on the mountainside.

THIS IS A FIELD COURSE. Students should dress and prepare for outdoor, mountainside conditions.

TECHNICAL ROCK CLIMBING CLASS – KNOTS AND ANCHORS (ANCHOR)

This is a CLASS, taught on the rocks, designed to provide the average recreational climber (who has relied on a knowledgeable climbing partner to tie knots and set anchors) with the skills they need to know to climb safely with family and friends.

This highly interactive course is designed to teach, demonstrate, practice and evaluate the skills required to begin or advance your technical climbing ability regardless of your current experience level.

WILDERNESS FIRST AID (WFA/SOLO)

Necessary training for anyone going into the outdoors: hikers, bikers, climbers, geologists, paddlers, hunters, skiers, biologists, and fishermen… (Increasingly a required course for anyone who leads others into the outdoors) The SOLO instructors are the tops in their field and are internationally recognized as pioneers in the field of backcountry medicine. The skills taught in this basic first aid course can make the difference in life and death regardless of whether you are in the snow, on the water or in the mountains.
